Union teachers not the only ones getting salary hike

Tamara Abbey
Mendota Bureau Chief

MENDOTA — Round two of salary increases were approved by the Mendota Grade School Board of Education during the regular meeting Thursday night after a one-hour closed session in the middle of the meeting.

Board president Sean Pappas said the board traditionally grants raises that match those secured by the Mendota Education Association for certified staff. Non-certified staff, which includes full-time maintenance, clerical and support staff, will see a 4.7 percent raise and some additional money to help offset any increase in insurance premiums. The insurance offset also matches the teacher contracts.

Administrators in the district also will see a 4.7 percent increase in their pay following action taken by the board.

The board also accepted the resignation of Northbrook Middle School principal Beth Wackerlin effective June 30. Wackerlin was hired by the district two years ago. The resignation of Sue Lawrence, former Blackstone School teacher, also was accepted.
