A La Salle child care center organized an event this week to make sure the children could have some interaction with male role models.

The Kids Place in La Salle, with help from Youth Service Bureau, organized a cookie-decorating activity and invited local elected officials and public figures to visit and participate with the children.

Among the dignitaries were state Rep. Frank Mautino (D-Spring Valley), Peru schools superintendent Mark Cross, YSB director Frank Vonch, Illinois Valley Community College president Jerry Corcoran and La Salle-Peru Township High School superintendent Steve Wrobleski.
