An alleged/attempted child abduction was reported at 6:15 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of O’Conor Avenue but was considered unfounded after the subject and vehicle in question were found, La Salle police said.
La Salle police received a report from a resident in the 700 block of O’Conor Avenue that alleged that a male subject in his late 40s, wearing glasses, a flannel shirt and jeans had attempted to make contact with their 3-year-old son, who had been playing in the front yard of their residence.
The male subject was reportedly observed approaching the child in the residence’s yard. When confronted by a parent, who was also outside, the subject reportedly ran back to his vehicle, which was parked in the middle of the roadway, and drove away from the scene. The parent attempted to follow the vehicle but was unable to do so, La Salle police said.
The vehicle description was given as a new white or silver crewcab Chevrolet or GMC truck, with a toolbox in the bed and a white sticker in the window, La Salle police said.
After a thorough investigation was conducted into this matter by the La Salle Police Department, the male subject and vehicle in question were located. Police determined that this incident was a matter of miscommunication between the two parties and mere coincidence, resulting in this report being considered unfounded at this time, according to La Salle police.
