Kevin Caufield
NewsTribune Reporter

The total program is expected to cost $380,000 affecting 10 bridges or culverts near bridges in Mendota, Troy Grove, Dimmick, Eden, Osage and Groveland townships. The costs for each project will be split in half by the county and the respective township.

Details involving each project will be available after funding and engineering work has been completed.

In other business:

n Board members learned the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also referred to as Obamacare, has caused fees within the county’s self-insurance program to rise $110,000 annually. The costs will be paid for directly using tax dollars. The fees, by law, may not be applied to any health insurance plan.

n Board members approved the following appointments: Edward Hettel, as an alternate on the La Salle County Zoning Board of Appeals; Paul Phelan, commissioner of Allen Township Drainage District No. 1; and Kevin Corcoran, commissioner of Drainage District No. 2 of the town of Wallace.
