Marshall County still investigating Toluca abduction-attempt report

NT Staff

LACON — Marshall and Woodford county authorities are working together to see if two Peoria suspects charged in a Washburn attempted abduction also accosted a child in Toluca.

Tyler Merriman, 18, and Jonathan Nunnally, 20, both of Peoria were charged with attempted child abduction and possession of a stolen vehicle, cinewsnow.com reported Tuesday. The website said both men allegedly tried to lure a 9-year-old boy into their vehicle Sept. 13 in Washburn.

And there may be a link to a similar case in Toluca. As previously reported, a 10-year-old girl was riding her bicycle to school Sept. 11 in Toluca when a gray car approached. The white driver, who had a passenger with a dark complexion, asked her to come over to the vehicle, but the girl refused and continued riding to school while the vehicle followed.

Washburn police chief Jeff Moline and Marshall County sheriff Rob Russell acknowledged similarities, but emphasized that any connection between Washburn Toluca remains under investigation.
