PRINCETON — An employee of Advanced Asphalt was injured this morning after being struck by traffic debris, possibly from a blown tire, on Interstate 80 east of Princeton.
An ambulance was dispatched to assist the worker, who was taken to a local hospital from the scene a mile west of the I-180 interchange. The worker’s name was not disclosed before press time.
Steve Kelly, secretary-treasurer of Advanced Asphalt, said the man sustained a broken nose and was being examined for other injuries, but the injuries were not life-threatening.
Julia Messina, speaking for Illinois Department of Transportation, confirmed the worker was an Advanced Asphalt employee but said it was an IDOT assignment.
