Illinois Sheriffs' Association does not solicit by phone

NT Staff

PRINCETON — Sheriff John Thompson issued a statement this week to inform the residents of Bureau County that he continues to support the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association of Springfield. “The community of Bureau County can feel comfortable with any correspondence from this well-established and professional organization. The ISA represents all of our Sheriffs’ and citizens within Illinois,” he said.

“The long-standing Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, comprised of the 102 sheriffs’ of Illinois, will be making available “Associate Memberships” by mail throughout Bureau County during spring 2013. It is important to note the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association does not solicit their membership by telephone. Notification will only be mailed (no telephone calls) to our residents of Bureau County.

“My reason for bringing this to your attention is this is the professional sheriffs’ organization that I belong to, and I remain extremely proud to support their membership drive. No matter who serves the Office of Sheriff of Bureau County, the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association continues to provide support to the citizens of Bureau County through their work in: tougher laws for criminals; fairer laws for victims of crime; special assistance for our elderly; special help for our youth; striving for law enforcement / community relations; the annual Illinois Sheriff’s Association Scholarship Award ...

“Any telephone solicitations that you might receive, during which they ask you to participate as a part of a membership effort or drive, have not received my endorsement and as your sheriff, I encourage you to simply hang up.”
