Big-time country artist Tim McGraw will play the Peru airport July 6 as part of Lou’s La Grotto’s Concerts for a Cause.
Buzz about booking McGraw began last week and it was confirmed this morning by promoter Merry Noonan of Lou’s La Grotto, a Peru restaurant that has organized the charity concerts since 2007. It held its first big concert in 2005 with Blues Traveler.
“We’re really excited,” Noonan said. “We think it’s going to be a good summer.”
McGraw will appear along with Love and Theft in the first concert of Lou’s summer series. Another country star, Brantley Gilbert, will play Aug. 3.
Ticket information for McGraw will be available later this spring, Noonan said. Tickets for Gilbert will go on sale March 16. Noonan is working to organize a third show that will be rock, she said.
Lou’s La Grotto’s Facebook page on Friday prompted excited discussion when it posted the message: “Save the date July 6.... Truck Yeah!,” the name of McGraw’s single on his 2012 album, “Two Lanes of Freedom.”
McGraw, 45, has won three Grammy awards, 14 Academy of Country Music awards, 11 Country Music Association awards, 10 American Music awards and three People’s Choice awards, according to Country Music Television. McGraw also is an accomplished actor and is married to country performer Faith Hill.
Lou’s LaGrotto’s Concerts for a Cause raises money for schools and non-profit organizations. Last year’s Kid Rock concert raised money for Trinity Catholic Academy, La Salle.
Noonan asks interested sponsors for this year’s shows to call the restaurant at (815) 223-3083.
