Stage 212 makes casting call for 'Dixie Swim Club'
Director Ellen Marincic has announced auditions for Stage 212’s spring 2013 production, “The Dixie Swim Club” — the comedic and touching character study by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten — will take place at Stage 212, 700 First St., in La Salle at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 and 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Five Southern women whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, children and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. “The Dixie Swim Club” focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years.
Marincic will cast five women who can portray characters aged 44 to 75 years old. Those auditioning will be asked to read passages from the script.
Scripts are available at the Stage 212 box office during regular office hours: 4-6 p.m. Monday, 1-4 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. For more information, call (815) 224-3025 or contact the director at (815) 326-3707. “The Dixie Swim Club” will be presented April 19-21 and 26-28.
