Streator Police Department was called to Circle K North in Streator at approximately 11:15 p.m. Sunday for a robbery. A white male subject approximately 5’7” tall with medium build entered the gas station and demanded money.
The clerk turned over an undetermined amount of money, and the subject then fled in a red truck. No weapon was implied or displayed.
While responding to the call, officers encountered the suspect vehicle. Officers pursued the vehicle, which refused to stop. The pursuit reached such speeds the officers had to slow down for safety, according to a press release from Streator Police Department.
Moments later the vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle accident in a rural area east of Streator. The subject fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival. A search of the area was completed with negative results.
According to La Salle County Sheriff's Department, authorities believe this robbery was committed by the same person who robbed the Shell station in Grand Ridge earlier on Sunday, because the suspect vehicles match.
The investigation is on-going.
