With a free gate and free parking, there’s also free entertainment, including a wood carver, tractor display and petting zoo, at Mendota’s Tri-County Fair that continues Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend.
Labor Day’s festivities, including the carnival and more, wind down Monday night, following the demolition derby that starts at 3 p.m.
The rodeo returns to the Tri-County fair in a pint-sized version, as the WTF Rodeo will entertain in front of the grandstands beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31. Children and adults are encouraged to participate in the event which will include mutton bustin’, the chicken chase and stick pony barrel races.
Promoters of the event also have mentioned the inclusion of an unusual race event for the adults in the crowd that apparently includes two participants, a pig and a wheelbarrow. Now there’s a race combination that should be as interesting to watch as participate.
Participants can register day of show at the event.
LADIES PAGEANT, FIREWORKS, BAND
Following the Rodeo is the return of the ever popular, Ms Tri County Fair “Ladies” Pageant. Several special “ladies” from the TriCounty area will compete for this coveted title, selected by a panel of local celebrities based on their singing performance, beauty, and poise. It’s always a good time for all at this pageant where absolutely anything goes and usually does.
One low admission price of just $5 will get you in to either or both shows, Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate.
After the ladies are finished, the party will continue as “Abbynormal” will entertain on the beer garden stage, with another round of spectacular fireworks to follow around 9 p.m.
