NT Staff

MENDOTA — Lulupalooza, a benefit for Mendota native Luann Peasley Schmidt, will be at Mendota Elks Lodge Friday, Sept. 5.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $20 each. The ticket includes dinner, beer, soda and entertainment. The benefit includes a silent auction, 50-50 drawing, raffles, and prizes that include tickets to a Chicago Bears game and a Chicago Bulls game.

The benefit will be in the lower level of the Elks Lodge. Tickets will be available at the door.
Prize donations for the benefit can be made by contacting Becky Lamkin at (815) 228-0679. Financial donations can be sent to Luann Schmidt Benefit, P.O. Box 774, Mendota, IL 61342.

Schmidt, a 1978 graduate of Mendota High School, was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer last year. She has had three separate surgeries. She has been unable to work since her diagnosis.

She and her husband, Bill, live in Manchester, Tenn., and will not be able to travel back for the benefit due to her condition. Instead, she will visit with family, friends and supporters via Skype.
