More trails at Starved Rock State Park have been reopened after cleanup of storm damage from June 30.
All trails east of the visitor center and lodge are open to La Salle Canyon. Parkman’s Plain access also is open for parking, according to Starved Rock State Park.
Also open are Wildcat Canyon, Lover’s Leap, Eagle Cliff, Beehive Overlook, Council Overhang, Ottawa Canyon, Kaskaskia Canyon, Illinois Canyon, Lone Point Shelter, campground and boat ramp.
Cleanup is about one-third complete. Crews are now clearing trails to St. Louis Canyon, which remains closed.
The Riverside West Picnic Area will be reopened soon. Tree debris must still be cleared from the main parking area, visitor center and roadways. Trails remain closed from Parkman’s Plain east to Route 71 and on the pedestrian bridge over the road between the center and lodge.
Hikers are asked to stay off trails that are marked as closed.
