Did you know La Salle County has buses and vans that can take you from one end of the county to the other for a small fee?
Ottawa City Commissioner Dale Baxter says demand for rides with the North Central Area Transit bus system continues to grow and will get greater in the future as more people know it’s available.
To keep up with the demand, Ottawa City Council on Tuesday put on file a lease agreement with Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru for a bus offered through NCAT. The council also voted to hire another part-time bus driver.
Baxter said NCAT recently added two new buses through a federal grant. The buses replace others that had well over 100,000 miles on them.
Industrial site cleanup money sought
Council also voted to pursue a $1 million U.S. EPA grant for Brownfield assessments. The city will pay Fehr Graham Engineering of Rochelle $8,000 to administer the grant application.
Lions in the park
Ottawa Lions Club over the weekend donated $2,000 to the city parks department. The club donates annually.
