Oglesby has a plan to speed new building projects along: The building inspector now will be allowed to bypass the Design Review Board.
Monday, the city council passed an ordinance that streamlines building in Oglesby. From now on, the building inspector can approve a no-frills petition, request a Design Review Board hearing if a question arises, or deny a request and let the petitioner appeal to the board.
City officials had been looking for a way to make to simply and streamline the process.
“It may not be a 100-percent solution,” city attorney Jim Andreoni said, “but it’ll be a solution in most situations.”
