Utica firefighters and emergency medical technicians and state police responded to car versus semi crash at 2:06 p.m. Thursday on the Osage Curves east of Utica which, according to initial reports, included two passenger vehicles and a semi that jackknifed.

Mary C. MacGuire of Ottawa was eastbound on U.S. 6 about ¼ mile west of East 11th Road when the small car she was driving crossed the centerline into the westbound lane, according to state police. Westbound truck driver Duane E. Vance of El Paso reportedly was unable to avoid the collision and the semi he was driving was struck, according to an initial state police report issued Thursday.

MacGuire (age and address unavailable) was charged with improper lane use and was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Ottawa, state police said.

Air bags deployed in the car during the crash.
