Spring Valley announces lighted parade, lighted home winners

Fair queens win award
The Lighted Santa Parade was Dec. 7. More than 30 hand-decorated vehicles, floats and individual walkers participated. Winners were: Best Theme — St. Margaret’s Health “Sleigh Bells” float; Best Vehicle — Western Sand & Gravel; Judge’s Choice — Miss Marshall-Putnam County Fair Queens float Next year’s parade will be Saturday, Dec. 6. The theme will be Santa’s Workshop - which can include toys, elves and the North Pole - a lot of ways to decorate.

Spring Valley announced the winners of the Spring Valley Boosters Home Holiday Lighting Contest. Jean Skinner of 311 E. Devlin St. was the winner of the “Classical Decorations” category. Pattie Wallaert of 310 W. St. Paul St. was the winner of the “Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation Inspired Home” category. Debra Arrequin of 510 W. First St. was the winner of the “Children’s Favorite” category.

Each of the three winners received a $75 prize. Ken Kotecki of 700 W. Cleveland St. also was the winner of the random house drawing and received a $50 prize. All 15 homes entered in the contest still have their lights up for nightly viewing. Maps are available at the Spring Valley city clerk’s office.
