Help A Vet Christmas Party planned by GOP

The La Salle County Republican Central Committee will be holding their first annual Help A Vet Christmas party at 6 p.m. Tuesday at MJ’s Pub, 139 E. Walnut St., in Oglesby. The public is invited to attend. Cost is $5 per person.

“The goal of this event is to provide much needed items to our LaSalle Veteran’s Home,” according to Susan Thornton, Chairman. “During this holiday season, lets make sure our veterans are not forgotten”

The veterans are in need of the following items:

Postage stamps, Denture Adhesive (Polygrip or Fixodent) Daisy Women Double Blade Razors, After shave lotion and gel, Lap Quilts 45”x60” in masculine colors, AA and AAA batteries, Shower Gel, Mouthwash, Pre-paid phone cards, Diabetic Socks (Walmart has these), Diabetic Socks with Grippers (Dr. Scholls), New Greeting Cards (Birthday, Anniversary, Thank You, Thinking of You and Sympathy), White T shirts, Jigsaw Puzzles (500 or less pieces). Please no food snacks due to dietary restrictions.

The Central Committee would ask that everyone attending the party bring something from the list of needed items. If anyone would like to donate any items but cannot attend the party, they may be dropped off at either JTS Pools location in Peru or Ottawa before Tuesday. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

If anyone has further question please contact Jim Matthews at (815) 712-1629.
