Illinois Valley Food Pantry’s 31st annual Thanksgiving distribution will take place at the pantry 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.
Volunteers from Zion United Church of Christ, Boy Scout Troop 123, regular volunteers from the pantry, and others will be packing food for 750 local food-insecure families.
“With the uncertain situation of the economy right now, it is really hard to plan appropriately for the holiday distribution,” pantry director Donna Hess said. “The pantry relies mostly on the kindness and generosity of the public to keep us operating.
“Our budget for Thanksgiving is not what it usually is this time of year. Please help our clients be able to have a nice holiday dinner with their families.”
To be eligible for a food order, families and individuals must be registered with the food pantry. The signup deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Cash donations or food may be brought to the pantry at 136 Marquette St., La Salle during working hours. 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday or 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.
The pantry will be closed Nov. 28-29.
