The grand opening of phase one of La Salle Rotary Park is this weekend.

Festivities will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, with a performance by the La Salle-Peru Township High School band at 11:30 a.m.

Ribbon cuttings and dedications of various park features, including the handicapped-accessible playground, soccer fields and fishing pond, will begin at 11 a.m.

Public officials and others connected with planning and developing the park will speak at noon.

The public can begin using the park and exploring the grounds throughout the day.

“We encourage everybody — young, old, whatever — to come out and enjoy the park,” said Gary Gearhart, chairman of La Salle Rotary Park Foundation.

Hamburger and hot dog meals will be for sale during the festivities.

La Salle Rotary Park is located on Troy Grove Blacktop (N. 5th Road) about a mile north of U.S. 6 and just west of Interstate 39.
