A potential bomb threat at a local trucking facility turned out to be a false alarm Monday night.
La Salle police working with La Salle County Sheriff’s Department, state police and explosives detection K9 unites from Kane County Sheriff’s Department, U.S.Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched the Con-Way Freight facility in eastLa Sallefor about six hours.
“Apparently there was a bomb threat on (Con-Way’s corporate) Facebook page that also mentioned the La Salle facility,” said La Salle police chief Rob Uranich. He said Con-Way’s corporate office initially alerted his department to the threat.
The local facility was evacuated from roughly 8:35 p.m. to 2 a.m. as bomb-sniffing dogs searched the building, he said.
“Being that this is a national company the FBI will continue the investigation concerning the online portion of it,” Uranich said.
Con-Way Freight has more than 425 locations nationwide.
