Decatur-area men, one bearing a cross and one following in a van, were spotted by motorists on Route 251 walking from Compton to Dimmick Township on Tuesday.

Following Phil Walton in a van was Jeremy Liesky, promoter of the Rise Up Christian Coalition, Decatur.

They started out on Good Friday in South Beloit and are on their way to Bald Knob Cross in Alto Pass at the far south end of Illinois.

They’re traveling 20 miles per day and asking Illinoisans to sign their Rise Up Unity Covenant, a contract entered into with God, their families and their churches to dedicate 10 minutes each morning “spending time with God,” one hour per week helping in a church and one hour a week volunteering to help in their community.

They were heading from Dimmick Township to Lostant today.
