Parent-teacher organization Support Oglesby Schools hosted a trivia night fundraiser at the Oglesby Elks Lodge on Saturday. The third annual event brought in 450 people, packing the facility and resulting in $4,500 in entry fees alone.

“Each year it’s gotten bigger and bigger,” said SOS president Melissa Stachowiak. “The support and generosity of the community is overwhelming.”

Stachowiak said the group of 20 parents and teachers worked hard to make the event a success. Many participants dressed according to the 80’s theme, and wine-tasting packages from August Hill Winery were awarded to the best dressed couple and team.

“So many people are dressing up and having a lot of fun with this,” Stachowiak said.

Cash prizes were awarded to the top three trivia teams. There also was a silent auction, and raffle items included concert tickets to see country singer Taylor Swift and 80’s rock band Bon Jovi.

Flash Foto of Utica donated its photography services to the event, and the Kohl’s Distribution Center supplied half a dozen volunteers and a $500 donation.
