Cannabis farm proposed for rural Ottawa

Kevin Caufield
NewsTribune Reporter

OTTAWA — Rural La Salle County is the latest potential location for a cannabis growing facility.

A La Salle County Zoning Board of Appeals public hearing is set for 5 p.m. Aug. 27 to discuss a number of special use applications that includes a proposal to construct a medical marijuana growing and processing facility in rural Ottawa.

The facility would be located on a 79-acre field owned by Anne McGinnis of Ottawa. The field is on the southeast corner of East 14th and North 30th roads about two miles west of Ottawa’s city limit.

According to the permit application, In Grown Farms, LLC wants to use 5-10 acres of land to construct a “greenhouse” environment for the facility.
