MENDOTA — The Mendota Chamber is seeking candidates for the upcoming Sweet Corn Festival Mini Royalty Pageant.

Boys and girls must be five years of age on or by the Aug. 9 pageant date or the date they enter kindergarten. Candidates also must be a resident of the Mendota Grade School district.

Parents can register their children for the content by completing a form and statement of intention.

Forms are available at the Mendota Swimming Pool and Graves-Hume Public Library. The forms must be sent to the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce, 800 Washington St., P.O. Box 620, Mendota, IL 61342 by Aug. 1.

No applications will be accepted after Aug. 1.

The pageant begins at 10:30 a.m. on the First State Stage, downtown Mendota with contestants to arrive at 9:15-9:30 a.m. A parent will be able to stay with the child prior to the pageant.

Judging will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Chairmen for the pageant are Amber Sondgeroth and Jan Phalen.

The mini-king and mini-queen will each be presented with $50 in chamber gift certificates.
