La Salle County deputies deal with motorcycle incidents

La Salle County deputies dealt with a handful of motorcycle incidents at the beginning of the three-day holiday weekend.

Clocked at 145 mph on his Yamaha motorcycle, Dustin J. Burke, 26, of Ottawa was stopped by a deputy and charged with speeding (145 in a 55-mph zone), driving under the influence, DUI over .08 and operating an uninsured vehicle at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from La Salle County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.

Joseph T. Laughlin, 32, of Skokie was evaluated for injury but not transported to a hospital by Utica emergency medical technicians after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing on Route 71 about a half mile east of East 950th Road along the south edge of Starved Rock State Park at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, according to La Salle County Sheriff’s Office.

Kimberly Ann Hirsch, 43, of Coffeen, Ill., was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa by Grand Ridge EMS at about 2:05 p.m. Saturday when she slowed to turn onto North 2775th Road near Ottawa, braked too hard, lost control of her motorcycle, laid it down and slid into the back of a vehicle driven by Michael P. Schuda, 32, of Downers Grove on Route 71, according to La Salle County Sheriff’s Office.
