HENNEPIN — The Putnam County Board will soon be down one member.
Jordan Ellena announced his resignation at Monday’s board meeting, effective Friday. Ellena is moving to Kansas City to join his fiancee. He has accepted a position in Independence, Mo.
“It’s been a pleasure (working with you),” he told the board. “I am sad to leave the board.”
Board chairman Duane Calbow said Ellena would be missed.
“It’s not often we have a board member as young and energetic and who cares for his community as you do,” he said.
The board set a special meeting for 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 16. The only item scheduled for the meeting is the approval of pay raises for elected officials for the next four years.
The board announced its intention to give elected officials a pay increase of 2 percent each year for the next four years.
“We’ve reviewed our financial situation with the county,” Calbow said.
With revenues down and expenses up, the county must make decisions that are fiscally responsible, he said.
“We appreciate the work that everybody does,” he said.
