MAGNOLIA — Fire destroyed a single-story house on the north side of Magnolia while the man who owns the house was not home, according to Magnolia fire chief Dan Baum.
Magnolia firefighters were called early Saturday afternoon to411 N. Peoria St.and arrived to find the house “pretty well fully involved with fire,” Baum said.
McNabb and Granville fire departments responded as part of the villages’ automatic mutual aid agreement when there’s a structure fire, and Varna and Lostant fire departments were called at 1:10 p.m. to assist.
“We had to get (the fire) knocked down and enter and pull some ceiling and outer walls to get it put out,” Baum said.
The cause remains under investigation, but it was not suspicious in nature, he said.
PCEMS emergency medical technicians and Putnam County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
Baum said he is not releasing the name of the homeowner.
