Registration under way for Oglesby parks summer programs

Oglesby Parks and Recreation Department will begin its summer recreation programs Monday, June 10.

All interested participants must pre-register by May 31 to be eligible for the programs. Registration forms are available at the city clerk’s office or by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department at (815) 883-8121.

The “Young Gloves” fielding clinic will be June 10-14. Boys entering grades 2-7 can learn baseball fielding fundamentals at Sunny Jim Bottomley Diamond each day 9-11 a.m.

The girls softball clinic will be June 10-14. Girls entering grades 2-7 can learn softball fundamentals at Memorial Park each day 9-11 a.m.

Tennis lessons for children begin June 17 and run for 2½ weeks through July 3 at the Courtyard Park courts. Lessons begin at 9 a.m. for beginners; 10 a.m. for intermediate and 11 a.m. for advanced. Children should bring rackets.

The Cheers and Chants cheerleading camp for girls kindergarten through
fourth grade is 10 a.m.-noon the week of July 8-12 at Dickinson House. Sideline cheers and routines will be taught.

Volleyball Skills and Drills will be July 8-12. The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 5-8 and will be 10-11:30 a.m. at Lincoln School. Basic fundamentals will be emphasized.
Arts and crafts classes will be July 15-19 at Dickinson House. Classes are 10-11:30 a.m. for children entering grades 1-3. The program includes cut, paint and color projects and many others.

Bowling camp will be noon-2 p.m. July 15-19 at Dickinson House. It is open to boys and girls entering grades three through eight.

Basketball camps for boys and girls entering grades 4-8 will be the week of July 22-26 at Lincoln School. The girls’ camp will be 9-11 a.m. and boys 1-3 p.m.
