He began his career at 3M, serving on the management team of several business units at the corporate headquarters in St. Paul, Minn., where he was recognized for his innovation capabilities. He spent seven years as general manager of an Illinois food processor, leading the team to significant increases in profitability. For the eight years prior to joining IMEC, Steve worked as an independent consultant, delivering organizational development services to the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Barnhard has a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from Harding University and a master’s in business administration from St. Thomas University. He is a certified Training Within Industry (TWI) Job Instructions Trainer and Coach; a certified Change Management Professional; and a certified family business advisor.
