The University of Illinois Extension Office and Illinois Small Business Development Center at Illinois Valley Community College have partnered to offer “Biz Kidz: Entrepreneurship Camp” on June 17-20. ”If you might have what it takes to become the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates or have a great idea for a new product for your own business, this is the camp for you,” said ISBDC director Bev Malooley. Campers will explore the characteristics of great entrepreneurs, investigate existing businesses and design a product blueprint. They also willlearn the skills of marketing ideas, financing a business, operating a business through the hands on activity of operating a lemonade stand. Students entering grades six and seven are invited to attend the 9 a.m.-noon camp in room A-321. Instructors will be Jordan Ellena and Gina Czubachowski. Ellena, extension educator in community and economic development, provides educational programs and leadership to elected officials, nonprofits, community members and small business owners. He acts as a link between the research going on at the Urbana-Champaign campus and residents in the four-county unit. His programs focus on local government education, participatory community planning, entrepreneurship and tourism. Czubachowski, ISBDC business consultant, completed the requirements to be a certified facilitator for “Profit Mastery: Creating Value and Building Wealth.” She specializes in financial analysis, traditional and social media marketing.
