Jim Bacidore was misquoted in the article “Mayor has to break tie to appoint comptroller” on Wednesday, July 31.He actually said John Duncan IV had once called TIF “corporate welfare,” not “public welfare.”

Police Reports
MERIDEN — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of East Seventh and North 46th Road northeast of Mendota, according to La Salle County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said Justin Johnson, 23, of Dixon entered the intersection without stopping and was struck by John Gales, 55, of Mendota. Johnson was charged with failure to yield at when required. Both drivers were taken to Mendota Community Hospital for injuries. The hospital does not release patient condition reports.

PRINCETON — Station wagon driver Leonilo Pineda-Amaya, 35, Denver, Colo., was charged with failure to yield, merging traffic after striking the side of an eastbound semi driven by Jeffrey D. Crowe, 48, of Prophetstown, causing the semi to travel into the center median and become stuck just east of Route 26 at 8:37 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 80 at Princeton, according to state police.
DEPUE — Brandon Heinz, 23, of 137 E. Fourth St., DePue was picked up on a Bureau County warrant for violation of an order of protection at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West Fourth Street, according to DePue Police Department.

SHEFFIELD — James P. Whitehurst, 38, of 17835 Route 40, Sheffield was picked up on a Knox County warrant for theft at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at 17834 Route 40, according to Bureau County Sheriff’s Department.

Mauricio Flores, 39, of 1253 Third St., La Salle was charged with following too closely after his vehicle collided with the back end of a vehicle driven by Richard Cattani of Hennepin at 5:23 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of North Spalding Street, Spring Valley police said.

Christian E. Leek, 19, of 1403 Crosat St., La Salle was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Clark Street, Oglesby police said.

No injuries were reported after a dump truck tipped over at a construction site east of Princeton on Interstate 80 on Wednesday.
