Looking for a sweet idea for fun tonight?
Girl Scouts of Central Illinois will host a night of ‘sweet firsts’ as local chefs are challenged to create desserts inspired by Girl Scout cookies.
Desserts First will feature sweet concoctions designed by chefs from the La Salle County area.
In addition to the sampling of desserts, the night will feature dinner provided by Mark Allen’s American Kitchen, a prize wall, raffles and entertainment, all to benefit local schools in La Salle and Bureau counties that recently were affected by flooding.
The chefs will put their original desserts to the test in a competition scored by local celebrity judges, including Sen. Sue Rezin, Judge Cynthia Raccuglia, ophthalmologist Dr. Libby Kristal, Judge Karen Eiten, Marseilles Elementary assistant principal Rose McIntyre, WCMY Radio Host Karen Rhodes, Times Reporter Chuck Stanley and WYYS radio host Tim Moritz “The Wizzard.”
Chefs from Mark Allen’s American Kitchen, Cajun Connection, Skoog’s Steakhouse, Brandy’s, Kelsey’s Kakes, and Tiers of Joy will be creating the one-of-a-kind desserts. Music will be provided by Steve Sharp.
The event, produced by Girl Scouts of Central Illinois in order to benefit recently-flooded communities, will be 6-8:30 p.m. today at Celebrations 150, La Salle.
Tickets are $30 per person and $15 for ages 16 and under (including Desserts First fun patch for attending Girl Scouts).
Sponsorships ranging from $100-$2,500 are available.
