Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton. The Rev. Peter Ward will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Ohio.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Sunday in the memorial home.
He was born April 1, 1939, in Princeton to Lester R. and Eleanor (May) Schultz. He married Norma Hansen (Schmidt) in 1983 in United Methodist Church in Mendota.
He graduated from Ohio High School in 1957. He previously served on the Ohio school board as president and was a long-time member of Barbershop Chorus.
Arlen was a lifelong trucker and farmer. In his younger years he showed Chester White hogs and won many awards including Grand Champion Barrow Champ. He took over Schultz Trucking in the mid-1980s. He loved driving trucks and it was obvious, as he was named Trucker of the Month for Midwest Trucking Association in October 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; his children, Diana “Dee Dee” Schwingle of La Salle, Bruce (Cathy) Schultz of Ohio, Ill., Bridgot Lampkin of Ohio, Ill., Brian “Doug” (Pam) Schultz of Lacon, Darren (Shannon) Schultz of Evansville, Ind., Tina (Casey) McCook of Standard, Kim (Tim) Kennedy of Mendota, Stacy (Jim) Walter of Seatonville, Rachel (Dan) Schlipmann of Normal and Krista (Shane) Byers of Tiskilwa; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Jones of Utica; sister and brother in-law, Linda (Jim) Rotter of Walford, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Chad Jones in 2002; and one niece, Christa (Jones) Demo in 2007.
Memorials may be directed to Pleasant View or the Alzheimer’s Association.
