Mary Ann McCormick
Mary Ann (Mennie) McCormick, 63, of Spring Valley died Oct. 21, 2013, in her home, following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley. The Rev. Paul Meismer will officiate.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
She was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Rockford to Vernon and Anita Mennie. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1969. She married John F. McCormick Jr. on Dec. 19, 1970, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ottawa.
Mrs. McCormick had worked for St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley in the dietary department. Mary Ann was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and president of the Maria Society of the church; she also was a former CCD teacher at the church. She was a member of Spring Valley Democrat Women’s Club, serving as president, and was a former member of the Hall Booster Organization. Mary Ann also bowled in the Wednesday night mixed league at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru.
She is survived by her husband, John F. McCormick Jr. of Spring Valley; three sons, Dave (Susan) of Spring Valley, John III (Holly) of Peru and Douglas (Ricci) of Chicago; four grandchildren, Grace, Creed, Reason and Ever McCormick; one brother, Frank Picchl of Ottawa; mother-in-law, Jane McCormick of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Jean Farrell of Ottawa; brother-in-law, William McCormick of South Bend, Ind.; step-brother, Gary (Diane) Schwerdtfeger; and stepsister, Linda (Mike) Musallem, both of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Francis McCormick; mother-in-law, Audrey McCormick; brother-in-laws, Jack Farrell and Dave Cunico; and stepbrother, Robert Schwerdtfeger.
