Donald 'Don' Davies



Donald “Don” G. Davies, 76, of Spring Valley died at 9:25 a.m. Jan. 27, 2013, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hurst Funeral Home, Ladd, with Michelle Crow officiating.  Burial will be at Florid Cemetery with full military services conducted by Granville American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services in the funeral home. Don was born July 4, 1936, in Putnam to Ernest A. and Helen (Cassell) Davies. He married Norma Pettit, who preceded him in death.

He served with the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Don worked at J & L Steel Plant in Hennepin and then in maintenance in Tulsa, Okla. He was a member of American Legion and VFW.

He is survived by one daughter, Kathy (Jim) Stewart of Ladd; one son, Robert Davies of Rockford; five grandchildren, Christopher (Susie) Data, Mario (Susan) Data, Jesse Data, Ashely and Dylan Davies; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Whitlock of Peru and Carol Grotti of Oglesby.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
