Lee R. Walters, 85, of Princeton died Jan. 4, 2013, in the Illinois Veterans Home, La Salle.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton. The Rev. Laura Root will officiate.
Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday in Norberg Memorial Home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Mr. Walters was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Princeton to Benjamin and Martha (Dye) Walters. He married Margaret Poff on Jan. 7, 1951, in Bradford. She preceded him in death. He then married Marjorie Etheridge Borges on Dec. 17, 1977. She survives.
He graduated from Tiskilwa High School in 1945. He was in the Illinois National Guard 1948-54 as a staff sergeant for the 179th Infantry 45th Division. He served in the Korean War 1952-53.
He was a self-employed accountant at Walters Tax Service as well as an electrician with Bates and Walters Plumbing and Heating. He also worked for Kraft Foods. He was an assistant pastor with Harmon Christian Assembly. He was a member of Tiskilwa Lions Club, was a past Tiskilwa School Board president in 1975 and an amateur Ham radio operator.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he is survived by two daughters, Kimber (Cal) Swanson of Urbana and Susan (Ted) Roberts of Princeton; three sons, Justin (Jan) Walters of Princeton, Tom (Kathy) Borges of Washington state and Kevin (Sandy) Borges of Princeton; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret; and one brother.
