Dennis R. Wold, 67, of Ottawa passed away Nov. 10, 2012, in Ottawa Pavilion.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Ottawa Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park, with military rites.
Dennis was born March 18, 1945, in Ottawa to Norman and Carolyn (Gondolfi) Wold.
He graduated from Marquette High School in 1963 where he played football and received the Outstanding Lineman Award in 1962. He then attended Illinois Valley Community College and Northern Illinois University, receiving a bachelors degree in history in 1967. Dennis served in the U.S. Army 1967-1969. He served in Vietnam from November 1968 until November 1969 during which time he achieved the rank of sergeant.
He retired from the State of Illinois as an administrator for Elgin Mental Health Center in the Rehabilitation Department.
He is survived by one sister, Kathy (James) Venturelli of Oglesby; one brother, Paul Wold of Ottawa; one nephew, Michael Venturelli; one niece, Laurie Collins; and three godchildren, Jodi McLean and Sarah and Matthew Speer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Joe Shanley, Kevin Killelea, David Speer, Jerry Wold, Matt Murry and Marty Gilligan.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
