District 20 Roundup: Peru, Bi-County win in D20 Junior League

NT Staff

Both Peru and Bi-County earned wins Tuesday at the District 20 Junior League baseball tournament at Peru’s Washington Park.

Peru rolled to a 14-1 upset win over Spring Valley to give the Peru All-Stars their second victory of the tournament.

In Tuesday’s opening game, Bi-County got its tournament started on the right foot with a 19-3 win over La Salle.

In the D20 Little League American Sub-division tournament at Mendota’s Strouss Park, Ottawa American punched its ticket to the sub-district finals with a 6-2 win over Spring Valley.

Spring Valley will face Bi-County — 15-2 winners over Mendota in Tuesday’s other game — at 6 p.m. Friday in the elimination bracket to determine who will face Ottawa in championship of the double-elimination tournament.

In the D20 Little League National Sub-division tournament at La Salle’s Hegeler Park, both Ottawa and Marseilles rebounded from losses with victories in the elimination bracket.

Marseilles topped Oglesby 14-7 led by winning pitcher Jay Scott, while Logan Komater kept Utica off the board with some relief help from Noah Gould as Ottawa National rolled to a 19-0 win over Utica.
