Mo Dean went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run Tuesday to help the St. Bede softball team to a 9-3 non-conference victory over Bureau Valley in Manlius.
The Lady Bruins jumped on the Storm early with four runs in the first inning. St. Bede added four more runs in the fourth.
Lainie Schweickert earned the win in the circle as she allowed three unearned runs on two hits with 11 strikeouts, two walks and a hit batter.
Darcy Kepner took the pitching loss and went 1-for-3 for BV.
Mendota 7, Byron 0
Ashlyn Kennedy tossed a no-hitter Tuesday to lead the Lady Trojans to a Big Northern Conference West Division victory in Mendota.
She struck out six batters and walked three. Kennedy also went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Brooke Carroll was 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs for MHS (6-3, 3-1 BNC West).
Marquette 6, Woodland 1
Evan Snyder pitched the Crusaders to a Tri-County Conference victory Tuesday in Ottawa.
He allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out 13 batters.
Trystin Raikes had a double and three RBIs for the Crusaders (12-3, 2-1 TCC).
Byron 5, Mendota 2
Jaron Robinson went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough as the Trojans dropped a Big Northern Conference West Division game in Byron.
Garrett Zinke took the loss for MHS (2-7, 1-2 BNC West).
TRACK & FIELD
The Aurit sisters led the Marquette girls to a third-place finish at an eight-team meet Tuesday.
The Lady Crusaders scored 83.5 points to finish behind Seneca (237) and Aurora Christian (129). Hall took fourth with 76 points.
Paige Aurit won the 3,200 meters in 11:47.23 and also claimed the 800 in 2:26.5. Dani Aurit won the 1,600 in 5:25.92.
The Lady Crusaders also won the 1,600-meter relay in 4:19.27 and had McKenzie Matters place second in the 100 (13.61).
For Hall, Brooke Keegan placed second in the 200 in 28.42 seconds, while Clarissa Gerrard was runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 28 feet, 8 inches.
In the boys meet, Hall placed fifth with 76 points and Marquette was sixth with 72. Seneca won with 153.5.
Landon Piccatto led the Red Devils by winning the 400 in 54.85 seconds and the 200 in 24 seconds. Teammate Collin Aimone finished second in the 400 (54.99) and won the long jump with a leap of 19-2 ½.
Luke Hill won the 3,200 (9:54.87) and the 1,600 (4:44.35) to lead the Crusaders.
The Henry-Midland girls won nine events Tuesday to score 107 points and win a quadrangular at IVC.
Amanda Kereta led the Lady Timberducks by winning the 100-meter dash in 13.48 seconds and the 200 in 27.9 seconds. Twin sister Amber won the 400 in 1:02.45 and was second in the 200 in 28.33.
Also winning for H-M were Emma Cluskey in the triple jump (31 feet, 11 ½ inches), Jillian Monier in the 3,200 (12:27.34), Lauren Sendelbach in the 100 hurdles (18.88), Melanie Yanke in the 300 hurdles (51.27), Nicole Woodall in the 1,600 (5:32.82) and the 400 relay (53.52).
H-M won three events in the boys meet. Team scores were unavailable for the boys.
Austin Wright won the 110 hurdles (18.09), Trevor Wiley claimed the 800 (2:10.63) and Alex Pettis took the 1,600 (4:41.82).
DePue’s Hector Madrigal won the 3,200 in 12:22.62.
Dixon 2, Ottawa 1
Ottawa goalkeeper Emily Peterson made 18 saves Tuesday, but the Lady Pirates fell in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference game in Dixon.
Emma O’Dell scored Ottawa’s only goal on an assist from Sophie Snyder.
La Salle-Peru 5, Morris 0
The Cavaliers swept a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference meet Tuesday in La Salle.
Reo Hammers won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Alex Strickler earned a 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.
In doubles, Jake and Trent Lipka won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1, Justin Burks and Drake Bruhns earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2 and Zach Giovanne and Cody O’Brien picked up a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 win at No. 3.
Mendota 3, Coal City 2
The Trojans won both singles matches and one doubles match Tuesday to defeat the Coalers in a non-conference match in Coal City.
Cody Phalen earned a 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 victory at No. 1 singles, while Joey Meyer was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles.
Jon Hohertz and Nick Phalen won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles for MHS (4-0).
Ottawa 4, Rochelle 1
The Pirates improved to 3-2 in the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference with a victory Tuesday in Rochelle.
Jackson Evensen won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while David Dobrose won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Ottawa also received doubles victories from Kris Felty and Nolan McCorkle at No. 2 (6-0, 0-6, 6-1) and Alec Lindemann and Tyler Lukkari at No. 3 (6-4, 6-2).
United Township 3, Princeton 2
The Tigers fell in a non-conference match Tuesday in Princeton.
Garrett Kostello won 6-1, 7-6 at No. 1 singles, while Princeton also got a 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 victory from Brady Frank and Elliott Beetz at No. 1 doubles.
