High School roundup: L-P girls basketball loses

The La Salle-Peru girls basketball team fell behind by 15 points in the first quarter but eventually rallied within three points with six minutes left before falling 51-37 to Bradley-Bourbonnais on Thursday in its second game at the Pontiac Thanksgiving Tournament.

Sophomore Jena Argubright had a strong effort for L-P, leading the team in scoring (19 points), rebounds (six), assists (five) and steals (three). Ellie Senica and Mia Porter each added five points for the Lady Cavs (0-2), who play the host Lady Indians at 4:30 p.m. today.

Mendota bowling beats St. Bede
Behind four bowlers with 600 series, the Mendota boys bowling team cruised to victory Thursday over St. Bede at the Elks Lodge in Mendota. The Trojans racked up 3,642 pins to St. Bede’s 3,193.

Michael Rosalez led Mendota with a 664 series, Brady Pohl and Jon Rosalez each had a 641 while Cody Phalen added a 616.

Mason Wilke led the Bruins with a 606 series.

Cavs fall to Rochelle
The La Salle-Peru boys bowling team dropped a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference match Thursday to Rochelle on the road. The Hubs had 3,328 pins to L-P’s 3,008.

Luke Tomaszewski led the Cavaliers with a 547 series.
