OTTAWA— A La Salle County grand jury has indicted a La Salle man on charges he sexually assaulted a girl in 2008.
David L. Hall, 30, of 1135 Tenth St., Apt. 204 was indicted Tuesday on one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony carrying 6-30 years in prison with no possibility of probation. If convicted, he would be required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
Hall, who is being held on $150,000 bond, will next appear Thursday for arraignment.
Hall was picked up on a sealed warrant and there was no factual presentation in open court. However, court records indicate that Hall is accused of having sexual contact with a female under 13 at the time of the alleged offence in Oct. 2008.
It was not immediately clear why Hall was charged four years after the fact. However, underIllinoislaw the statute of limitations on a sexual assault of a child does not lapse until at least after the victim turns 18.
Also indicted Tuesday were: Matthew R. West, 25, of Sheridan (residential burglary); Tristan L. Finley, 25, of Ottawa (unlawful use of a debit card); Robert L. Hatala Jr., 51, of Ottawa (unlawful possession of a controlled substance); Robert A. Engel, 51, of Oswego (unlawful possession of a controlled substance); Alana K. Briddick, 27, of Oglesby (two counts of forgery); Soledad Coss, 26, of Streator (domestic battery); Jason D. Cordray, 38, of Flanagan (domestic battery); Smokey L. Wrona, 33, of Peru (unlawful possession of cannabis); Jerry R. McGahan, 62, of Chico, Calif. (unlawful possession of cannabis); Jose Ugarte, 56, of Chicago (driving while revoked); Rachel S. Mann, 31, of La Salle (new count: disorderly conduct); Klinton J. Zehr, 23, of Ottawa (aggravated unlawful use of a weapon); Chad M. Rimmele, 35, of Ladd (aggravated criminal sexual abuse); Raamah Bonilla, 36, of Buffalo, N.Y. (unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver).
